Penicillin
Sam Ross, New York, 2005. The smoky float is the medicine — pour it gently and do not stir it in.
What's in it
- 60ml (2 oz) Blended whisky
- 25ml (¾ oz) Lemon juice
- 20ml (⅔ oz) Honey syrup
- 3 coins Fresh ginger
- 7.5ml (¼ oz) Peated whisky, to floator leave it out: still a good drink, but the smoky float is what makes it a Penicillin
How to make it
- Shake the blended whisky, lemon juice, honey syrup and ginger coins hard with ice.
- Double strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass.
- Float the peated whisky over the back of a spoon.
- Garnish with a piece of candied ginger.
