What's free in Barello
Barello is a home cellar and bar app that tells you what to open tonight, what to keep, and what you can mix from what you have. Everything in the app today is free to use. Here's what joining early gets you.
Everything it does, and what it costs
| What it does | How | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Add a bottle from one photo of its label | It reads the label into a form, and you check what it found before it's saved. | Free |
| Add a whole shelf from one photo | It lists every label it can see, and you tick the ones that are right. | Free |
| A drinking window for every wine it can place | Drawn from the grape and the style, and adjusted for where you live and where the bottle sits. | Free |
| Tonight: one bottle to open, and what to eat with it | Pick a dish and it suggests bottles and cocktails, or start from the bottle. | Free |
| The Bar: cocktails matched against your own bottles | What you can make now, what's one thing short, and which bottle opens up the most. | Free |
| A tasting history, with each person's own ratings | So “we both loved this” is something it can actually tell you. | Free |
| Prices from Australian shops, with the source shown | Banded into midweek, weekend and occasion bottles, so you know what tonight warrants. | Free |
| One cellar the whole house shares | Invite someone with a link. Whoever opens the bottle, everyone knows it's gone. | Free |
| Download everything, any time | Your cellar, tasting history and ratings as spreadsheets. No limit. | Free |
As at 6 October 2026. Prices come from Australian shops only, so a household elsewhere sees its own figures first.
Start with one bottle. Takes about thirty seconds to join.
Join freeWhat Barello doesn't do, free or paid
There's no shop, so you can't buy wine in the app. There are no community reviews, no critic scores and no social feed. There are no ads.
Prices are there to tell a Tuesday wine from a birthday one, not to add the cellar up, so nothing totals it.
How that compares
Vivino. Premium is $75.95 a year, and Vivino's own upgrade screen puts drinking windows behind it.
CellarTracker. Its subscription is $7.99 to $69.99 a month by cellar size.
InVintory. Its free plan has drink windows "on select wines", and Premium is A$184.99 a year on the Australian App Store.
Make Me A Cocktail. Premium is $8 a month, $80 a year or $149 for life, and what to buy next is behind it.
Cocktail Flow. Premium is $7.99 a month or $39.99 a year, shown as introductory pricing.
noflair. Its upgrades run from $1.99 to $14.99.
Each figure is read off that app's own upgrade screen, its own plans page or its Australian App Store listing, dated on its comparison page. The store lists each purchase and its price, not what it buys.
