- 20ml (⅔ oz) Orange liqueur
- 25ml (¾ oz) Lime juice
- 1 pinch Salt, for the rim optional
- 1 Lime wheel optional
How to make it

- Shake the mezcal, orange liqueur and lime juice hard with ice.
- Strain over the fresh ice, pouring away from the salt, and garnish with a lime wheel.

What cocktail can I make?Where it came from
No one is recorded as the first to pour one. It borrows the Margarita, a drink claimed by several Mexican bars and bartenders from the late 1930s, whose first published recipe appeared in Esquire in December 1953. Mezcal was little used by American bartenders until the late 2000s, when Phil Ward's drinks at Death & Co, and then at Mayahuel, his East Village agave bar opened in 2009, brought it into cocktails. In New York, Employees Only made a mezcal Margarita a regular after-hours drink.
