Mai Tai
Trader Vic, 1944. No pineapple juice: that is the other one. The dark rum float came later; Vic's original has none.
What's in it
- 60ml (2 oz) Aged rum
- 15ml (½ oz) Orange curaçao
- 15ml (½ oz) Orgeat
- 25ml (¾ oz) Lime juice
- 7.5ml (¼ oz) Sugar syrup
- 1 Mint sprig optional
- 15ml (½ oz) Dark rum, to float optional
How to make it
- Shake the aged rum, orange curaçao, orgeat, lime juice and sugar syrup with crushed ice.
- Pour unstrained into a rocks glass.
- Sink a mint sprig into the ice.
- For the later, richer version, float the dark rum over the back of a spoon.
