What cocktail can I make?

Where it came from

Who made the first one is disputed. It is often credited to Eddie Woelke, an American bartender who arrived in Havana around 1920, but PUNCH notes it was being made by a Cuban cantinero as early as 1915, and David Wondrich credits Constantino Ribalaigua, then head bartender at a little café near the Parque Central. A New York paper called it a favourite drink of the Cubans in 1919. It is usually said to honour President Mario García Menocal, though some accounts name Gerardo Machado.
