What cocktail can I make?Where it came from
The drink began at Lola’s, a restaurant on Fairfax Avenue in West Hollywood, soon after it opened in July 1996 (some accounts say 1997). A Ketel One representative had urged owner Loren “Lola” Dunsworth to put a vodka Martini on the menu; she spotted a bottle of DeKuyper sour apple liqueur on the back bar and asked bartender Adam Karston to mix the two. He called it the Adam’s Apple Martini, the name was soon cut to Appletini, and through the 2000s it spread across North America. Lola’s itself closed in 2013.
