What cocktail can I make?

Where it came from

The Gimlet came first, built on Rose's lime cordial, which Lauchlan Rose of Edinburgh patented in 1867, the same year British merchant ships were required to carry lime juice. Vodka versions turn up in American liquor-store advertisements in the 1950s, including a 1954 one for a 'Vodka Gimlet' made with Crown Russe. As with the Martini, vodka went on to replace gin in many Gimlets in the late 20th century.
