Left Bank Martini

A Martini with white wine in place of vermouth and a little elderflower liqueur: soft, floral and very drinkable. A Chablis or other unoaked Chardonnay suits it best.

What cocktail can I make?

Where it came from

Simon Difford created it in 2006 at the Cabinet Room in London for the launch of St-Germain elderflower liqueur. The name points to Saint-Germain-des-Prés, on the south bank of the Seine in Paris, rather than to Bordeaux's Left Bank. His original was made with Sauvignon Blanc, though he notes that Chardonnay and other dry whites work as well.
